Zach Braff Style

March 21, 2008

So lately the rhythm of LA has been fast but smooth to me lately. This place is really starting to feel more like home now…

Interning at Pangaea is quite an experience it is one of the best up and coming entertainment companies around. We are developing new brands and focusing most of our attention towards MUSEXPO which will be happening in about 5 short weeks. It will be extremely fun and satisfying to see what all our hard work has put together. I have been assistant to the Conference Director of MUSEXPO so I have had the privilege to help out in so many ways for this year’s event.

The weather is so unbelievable here; I really don’t think most Californians truly appreciate it. I heard someone say the other day “I am not going to start taking the bus until it the weather gets nicer in a few weeks,” I thought they were being sarcastic because it’s 75 degrees and sunny every day… This weather really reminds me of when I was child living in the south pacific islands. Minnesota is so depressing 6 months out of the year, it does not make sense why you would want to live there, but still so many of us live there and love it. I plan on leaving Minnesota as soon as I graduate, so I have been tempted to get a mock Mt. Rushmore Tattoo with major Minnesota figures from over the years. I think they would have to include: Jesse Ventura, Judy Garland, John Madden, and Louie Anderson. You probably ask yourself “what about Dylan and Prince?” I have already taken care of those tattoos…

So, Ben and I had not had a TV or Internet in our apartment until a few weeks ago so we went crazy and started reading books. But then when we were donated a TV/DVD combo by a good work friend of mine, that’s when Ben and I said to each other, “Who needs books when you can have Zach!” So went to Best Buy immediately to pick up seasons 5 & 6 of Scrubs, best part was they were on sale for $20 each. We have started to see our lives more and more through Zach Braff’s Character J.D. Zach just puts on such a good fresh meat perspective into the working world.

Cheers,

Pete

So, where to begin???

Who knew that Wheat Thins boxes had prizes in them?

The drive out was a great time for Ben and I, we ate cheese and hummus sandwiches on wheat for every meal and saw the morning come and watched the stars until we couldn’t see straight so we would pull over. We were able to spend the night at Ben’s sister’s house in Rapid City the first night and the second at a friend of Ben’s in Salt Lake City. We arrived on the third night to a warm welcome of McNally Smith Alumni and staff at a restaurant on the Sunset Strip, much thanks to Debbie and Charley. :)

I like my internship a lot here at A&R Worldwide, they work me hard but I have learned so much and had so much invaluable experience in such a short time. The Music Business is all about delivery, execution, validation, follow up and communication, in order to be successful in the new era of the ever-changing music industry. What I am learning here are little things so applicable to everyday issues of life.

Also, I have learned what not to be like by looking at LA drivers driving like they are invincible; the trendy LA drivers are quite different than the modest mid-west mini-van driving mothers of Minnesota.

A good friend of mine told me, “that for every downside to LA there are twice as many good things.” I have totally seen this to be true. Every time this city feels like too much I go to the beach and see the sun reflecting down on everyone and know that we are all in the same boat and you just got to ride the waves until you can’t ride them anymore.

I visited Minneapolis last weekend to see a play my brother was part of, it was great to see my family and friends again. It was 20 below zero in Minnesota, which is a 100 degree difference to the weather in LA last weekend; it was great to get back to Cali.

Ben and I went to see Umphreys McGee play last night at Crash Mansion, they were awesome, I am going to G Love at the House of Blues Saturday, and our company is hosting a show at a smaller venue on Friday. It will be a great weekend.

Peace and Cheers,
